The 100th/442rd Combat Regiment Team
 
          The 442nd Infantry Regiment, together with the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion and the 232nd Combat Engineering Company, formed the famous all-nesei 442 Regimental Combat Team [442nd RCT]. Characteristic of the fighting sperit of the men as their motto, "Go For Broke," which originated with the Hawaiian all-nisei 100th Battalion.  The first to see battle, the 100th Battalion was later merged with the mainland recruits to form the 442nd Infantry Regiment.  "Go For Broke" was Hawaiian gambling slang meaning to bet all one's money on on one throw of the dice.
